Cancer Sucks. Life doesn't have to.
There is a podcast I enjoy called Cancer Sucks. It's hosted by Jay Williams. He has been sharing his journey with Cancer. It's been refreshing to listen to. He has had many struggles, yet remains positive. One of the main "mantras" he shares is the title of this post, and it has been helpful. This isn't a great situation, yet I'm still here and there is plenty to celebrate. At the end of my 6th round of treatment, I and my family took some nice family photos, and I took my daughter to Lake Gerorge for a overnight trip. Let me indulge in the trip for a bit! She is 4, and a total gem! Lots of energy! We started the day in Saratoga. We went to Moonmagic, where she choose a rose quartz bracelet, worry dolls, and a little crystal for her room. Then ice cream! We went to a book store after, and she got a little plush unicorn to decorate, and a book about a unicorns too. I managed to get some books too! From there we went up to Lake George, and had lunch at The Docksider. Amazing! Morgan was ready for the beach. The place I randomly found is called Depe Dene Lake side resort. I got a small cabin, and the beach was a short walk away. We checked in and once unpacked, she was off to the beach! From 5-8 pm at least! Morgan means "of the sea" and how she took the the water, I think we gave her the right name.
I had plans to take her on a Mini Ha Ha boat ride, yet she loved swimming so much, we took the next morning for more swimming...at least 9:30-noon! Great trip, and no life sucks moments.
It's in the little things too. With esophageal cancer and no option for surgery, I'm going to enjoy some dang good culinary experiences while I can. The chemo is working, and I am not as worried around food anymore. So about a week ago, I made key-lime pie for the first time.Took the whole pie outside to look at while enjoying a slice.
Best way to start the day.
I'm super greatful that I can have these experiences. I hope this inspires anyone to do something special for themselves too! I already made Magnolias Banana Pudding for this week!
Still learning about blogging and photos! Hope to make things nicer, yet hope the reader is having fun!
